This is a popular trail.Especially in the Ely area,but it's actually popular every inch of the way 165 mile trail

I'm not sure how many plan hikes to this one,because it's used for a variety of activities.

We've seen people on horseback,snowmobiles,bikes,and hikers in a late winter hike last year.

Some parts of this trail are under water,and don't recommend trying to get through.The mud,and the 4 foot depth in some areas makes it completely out of bounds to continue while out on a journey.

This trail runs from Grand Rapids to Ely and intersects with the Arrowhead State Trail just west of Lake Vermillion.

The bottom line is this is more of a snowmobile trail once you get north of Grand Rapids 9 miles.It's paved only so far,and the rest of the trail is pretty muche used by snowmobilers,but people still do hike it in certain areas.

Volunteers Needed

Please take a moment to volunteer to help maintain a trail.

Whether it be collecting trash thrown along the path,to lending a helping hand with a shovel for repairs.

There are so many ways to help.Just a little time from others makes a huge difference.

We support no specific trail here in the state.We want you to support what trail matters to you.One in your community.Talk to them,and say "Hey..what can I do to help this trail?".

Take the time to appreciate trails in the state,and encourage others to get on out there and stretch the legs a bit.

There is nothing better than a good walk,or hike for mental & physical exercise.

ON THE OTHER HAND :

You don't need to volunteer...just give thanks,and a pat on the back to those who do maintain the trails here in the state.That's just as important as bending over to pick up a piece of trash.

Having those who care about our trail system here in Minnesota..helps the movement to maintain them.

So we thank you for visiting,and having an interest in looking up a trail,or looking for a new place to hike.

We are constantly adding new hiking paths to explore on a weekly basis.

The bottom line is.Take action and help be part of a path in Minnesota.Your interest alone will help keep it alive.

Find a trail system that interests you.

That's what we're about,and take it from there and stretch those legs :)
